This map looks at what those policies do, where they are, and just as importantly, where they aren't.

. The above map pinpoints about 500 political jurisdictions that have either formal or informal sanctuary policies. In addition, the center lists 220 cities and counties across the nation as having sanctuary status, which are displayed on the map below.

I created the Sanctuary Cities List in 2006 and with the help of citizen activists all across the U.S., it has become the most accurate and complete list of sanctuary jurisdictions in the U.S Proponents of sanctuary cities cite motives such as reducing illegal immigrants' fears of deportation, separating of illegal immigrant.
